2023 was my first Holi celebration at Suryagarh. Personally, I’m not a fan of the way in which the competition is widely known by most individuals. Due to a number of experiences of the competition as a younger grownup, I’ve spent Holi, locked inside my condominium, for many of my life. However then, Holi at Narendra Bhawan occurred a number of years in the past and life was not the identical! I LOVED it. Throughout my first Holi as an worker of the MRS Group ( which owns Suryagarh & Narendra Bhawan ), I used to be at Narendra Bhawan. However this time round, as luck would have it, I bought to have fun and play Holi at Suryagarh for the primary time.
The best way each the lodges have fun Holi is by organizing a Sundowner on the night earlier than Holi after which a colour-filled celebration on the day of Holi. I’ve skilled the gorgeous Darbari Sundowners at Bikaner however this was my first time on the Kuldhara Sundowner at Jaisalmer and I didn’t know what to anticipate. I’m conscious that the experiences curated by Suryagarh are spectacular however the Holi Sundowner was not one thing I had seen beforehand.
The tents and the Algoza participant ( double flute ) and the Saxophonist and the meals and the cocktails had been all wonderful. The Oasis was gorgeous, with random horses and sheep grazing, the final of the inexperienced grass across the Oasis and the final atmosphere. What was surprising and possibly a primary, was the sky! There was a rainstorm brewing within the background from three instructions. At first it was a greyish blue, which quickly was darker gray. There have been lightning flashes within the distance within the three separate instructions and the climate bought significantly cooler.
I used to be with a few of my favorite folks. Laurent. Rituja. Nakul. They’re a few of the nicest, most beneficiant and sensible those that I’ve ever met in my life. And that I get to spend time working alongside them, is a privilege. We took selfies, we chatted with visitors, we loved the scrumptious meals and the wonderful cocktails that Himanshu was concocting behind the bar, we loved the music and we took within the breathtaking view all the night.
The sundown was completely spectacular. I couldn’t get sufficient of the sky and the bushes AND the horses because the night continued. Finally, the winds picked up and there was desert sand blowing within the wind and the Saxophonist continued to play and it was MAGICAL. Lastly, we packed up and began to drive again to the lodge and by the point we bought to the lodge, it began to rain!
It has NEVER rained in March, on Holi, in Jaisalmer – a minimum of not on the lodge so far as I’ve surmised, after asking a few of the veterans who’ve been with the lodge since its inception. It was one thing else. A night, that I’m not going to neglect anytime quickly.
