Restrictions on the import of laptops, tablets, all-in-one private computer systems, and ultra-small computer systems and servers is not going to be imposed instantly and there can be a transition interval to implement them, the centre mentioned right now.

The clarification comes a day after the federal government introduced the curbs and mentioned they are going to be applied with rapid impact.
The federal government, on Thursday, imposed a licensing requirement for the import of laptops, tablets, and private computer systems to assist promote home manufacturing of those merchandise underneath the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for IT {hardware}.
